In one sentence: Choose by the music you want: songs and folk on acoustic guitar, rock and bands on electric guitar. Acoustic suits ages 7+, and 5–6-year-olds can start on ukulele. Lessons are one-to-one with our guitars, and most students strum a simple pop song within 8–12 lessons.
Acoustic or electric
- Acoustic: singing along, folk, fingerstyle; no amp needed at home.
- Electric: rock, pop, bands; amps in class, no need to learn acoustic first.
- Bass: the band's rhythm core — see bass guitar.
Do I need to buy a guitar?
Not at first. Use ours for the first month; your advisor will suggest a size and budget after that.
Exams
Rockschool Grades 1–8 for acoustic and electric — or just play the songs you love.
