FAQ

About this course

What age can a child start drums?

From about 5; our electronic kits adjust to a child's height. Drums are also one of our most popular adult courses.

How do I practise without a kit at home?

Start with a practice pad for hand technique, then consider an electronic kit with headphones. All lessons are in our drum rooms.

Are there drum exams?

Yes, we prepare students for Rockschool Drums Grades 1–8, and many students also perform at our concerts and competitions.

Are drum kit and percussion lessons the same?

The drum kit is one kind of percussion and the one used in pop and band music. KARON drum lessons are one-to-one; fees depend on level and lesson length and are quoted after the trial.

Can complete beginners join?

Yes. Every course has a beginner track; your teacher sets the starting point from the trial assessment.

How long and how often are lessons?

Usually 45 or 60 minutes once a week; exam sprints or adult intensives can be more frequent.

Do I need my own instrument?

Lessons use our instruments. Ask an advisor about rental or purchase options for home practice.

How much do lessons cost?

Fees depend on the instrument, level and lesson length (45 or 60 minutes). After a trial, an advisor gives a clear quote with no hidden fees; monthly or package options are available.

Which campus offers this course? Can I switch?

Rua da Barca, Fai Chi Kei and Rua do Campo share the same syllabus. Most instruments and art can be taken at the nearest campus or transferred; progress follows the student. Online piano can be taken at home.
