In one sentence: Children in Macau can start violin at 4 on 1/16 or 1/10 instruments, and adults can start from zero. KARON Education's violin lessons are one-to-one with grade-8 or diploma teachers, preparing for ABRSM violin grades 1–8, ensembles and competitions.
Starting age
Fractional violins start at 4, but readiness matters more: sitting still, following instructions and some finger strength. Violin has no frets, so early progress is slower than piano — that's normal.
What drives the fee
Level and teacher experience, 45- or 60-minute lessons, and extra lessons before exams. Your advisor quotes after the trial. Violin is not covered by the PDAC subsidy.
Buy or rent?
Children change size every 1–2 years, so renting first is sensible; the advisor recommends a size by arm length.
The first year
Posture and bow hold; whole and half bows; D and G major scales; reading and simple pieces. Then exams — see the ABRSM guide.
