FAQ
About this course
Is pipa hard, and what age should I start?
Pipa fingering is detailed, so around age 7 (or when hands are steadier) is comfortable. Adult beginners are welcome; we start with tan-tiao and simple pieces.
Can I take Central Conservatory exams on pipa?
Yes, Grades 1–9. You can also learn traditional and modern repertoire for concerts without sitting exams.
Do you provide a pipa in class?
Yes. Buy later if you want to practise at home — we will match an instrument to your hands and teach basic nail care.
Can complete beginners join?
Yes. Every course has a beginner track; your teacher sets the starting point from the trial assessment.
How long and how often are lessons?
Usually 45 or 60 minutes once a week; exam sprints or adult intensives can be more frequent.
Do I need my own instrument?
Lessons use our instruments. Ask an advisor about rental or purchase options for home practice.
How much do lessons cost?
Fees depend on the instrument, level and lesson length (45 or 60 minutes). After a trial, an advisor gives a clear quote with no hidden fees; monthly or package options are available.
Which campus offers this course? Can I switch?
Rua da Barca, Fai Chi Kei and Rua do Campo share the same syllabus. Most instruments and art can be taken at the nearest campus or transferred; progress follows the student. Online piano can be taken at home.
