One-to-one instrument lessons are PDAC "one-person courses": pay upfront, sign in twice per lesson, and claim the subsidy after reaching 70% attendance.

In one sentence: A "one-person course" is a DSEDJ-approved course with a single student place — mostly one-to-one instrument lessons such as piano, guitar, guzheng and percussion. You pay the fee first, then claim the subsidy online once attendance reaches 70%; no deposit is required.
One-person vs regular courses
- One-person courses: pay first, no deposit; claim after 70% attendance.
- Regular group courses: the fee plus a 50% deposit are deducted from your account at enrolment; the deposit returns automatically at 70% attendance.
- Group courses needing MOP 3,000+ of subsidy, or students with past attendance under 30%, also switch to pay-first.
Signing in correctly
Sign in twice per lesson with your own ID on the school's terminal:
- From 30 minutes before to 15 minutes after the start.
- Within 30 minutes after the end.
Sign-ins outside these windows don't count, even if you attended.
Absences and rescheduling
- Each one-person course allows one reschedule, requested at least 1 hour before the lesson.
- Once rescheduled, attendance is counted on the new slot.
- All other absences count against attendance, so leave yourself a margin.
When to claim and get paid
- Within 180 days of reaching 70% attendance, and by 31 July 2029, via Macau One Account or the DSEDJ site.
- You'll need a bank account opened in Macau.
- DSEDJ replies within 45 days of the month your application is complete and pays within 90 days of approval.
KARON's one-person courses
KARON's piano, guitar, drums and guzheng courses are approved for 2026–2029. DSEDJ requires music teachers to hold Grade 8 or above; all KARON teachers hold Grade 8 or a music diploma.
See subsidised music courses for campuses, and the MOP 6,000 guide for eligibility and balance checks.
